Development in Gulf View as a Node/Hub

Gulf View, is an area surrounded by a lot activity including social and economic. It can also be referred to as the “social life” of San Fernando, there are many different food outlets, entertainment center and relaxation zones. It also has the resources to fulfill the need of the individuals around health care, food and basic necessities. 

Hospital

 Gulf View Medical is a private hospital that provides that same health services as other hospitals except there is a price attached to it. However it serves the same purpose of every other health facility and that is promoting proper health care and best service to all its patients.

The Mall
Gulf City is the main attraction of this area, as a matter of fact it is one of the most popular areas in south Trinidad, where a lot of people spend their time leisurely. Within the mall they have access to a lot of food outlet, entertainment areas and stores of a wide variety.

Multinational Corporations
There are many multinational corporations found in the area such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Hagen Das, TGI, Papa Johns etc. They have established here simply because of the amount of people in this area on a daily basis.

Entertainment

The major reason of a lot of people going to Gulf View are the mall or Playdium or Fun station for kids. It’s a means of relaxation and leisure and to get away from a busy lifestyle.

Can it be termed a Node?

According to Ullman and Harris, 1945 “Cities do not grow around one core they have different nodes’’ (Bowyer, 2011) .With all resources available within this area and close to the Gulf View area, can be considered a node? A lot of activity is centralized in this zone for growth and establishment of the region, it provides different services to the people. It also serves as a hub in which people situated themselves close to and around for access to what they need without having to go into the busy area. It is definitely a business district hence in a matter of opinion it can be considered a node simply because majority of peoples criteria are met.
